Sandy's PledgePage 2002 Washington DC Avon 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk
If I told you I’m walking 60 miles for 3 days to help woman with undetected breast cancer find out early enough to survive, would you support me?
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter about the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day. This exciting event is the largest of its kind ever undertaken in the fight against breast cancer. The event consists of three spectacular days of walking beginning in Baltimore, MD, and concluding in Washington, DC. Over 2,000 men and women will join together, and walk between 15 and 25 miles each day, from May 4th - May 6th 2002. Each participant will raise a minimum of $1900 to benefit the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. The net proceeds are distributed to community programs around the nation to help with education and early detection of breast cancer and national research institutions. Some of this is in the form of providing low or no cost mammograms and post diagnostic services to under-served woman.
I have been personally touched as my mother is a breast cancer survivor, and I had a scare a few years ago detecting a lump. I have therefore committed myself to walk in this revolutionary event, and I am required to raise the $1900 in order to participate. I would like to request your support of my participation with a monetary donation towards my pledge goal. In exchange for your generous support I am offering to wear your company name or logo on my shirt or hat. The amount of positive promotion, potential press coverage, and advertising value that your company would receive is immeasurable. The event will attract thousands of on-lookers as well as the walkers, crew, and staff members, all whom would be a captive audience for the corporate sponsor names.
